Uncalibrated Data
The uncalibrated data consist of binary tables with FITS headers. Note that during the Eros Orbital mission phase, several NIS subphases occurred during one observing day.

Level 2 Calibrated Data, The Nixel Database (Original)

The MSI/NIS team used the raw NIS data and the NIS calibration tables to generate the following calibrated data file, known as the Nixel Database. The file contains 292608 calibrated spectra from the entire NIS investigation, from cruise through the end of the NIS experiment in May 2000. Spectra are presented in units of target radiance divided by solar radiance (I/F) and include derived information on the pointing of the NIS spectrometer. The file is a 326-Mbyte, FITS binary table with a non-compliant FITS header.

Level 2 Calibrated Data, Split by NIS Subphase and by UTC Date

To facilitate the retrieval and analysis of level 2 NIS data, PDS-SBN split the 292608 observations in the Nixel Database by NIS subphase and UTC (observation) date. The resulting products are binary tables with standard FITS headers. The following table provides the number of observations for each NIS subphase and includes UTC dates.

Level 3 Browse Facility

The Browse Tool listed below is an archive of calibrated NIS data. The tool is web-based and provides coverage maps of observations, average I/F, average inclination angle, average emission angle, average phase angle, and average resolution. The tool includes predictive surface maps and AVI-formatted and MOV-formatted movies of Eros.
