      Instrument Overview

      The Cassegrain infrared camera uses a 58 x 62 pixel InSb array,         
      manufacture by the Sata Barbara Research Corp., mounted in a He-        
      cooled dewar. Mounted on the 5-m Hale telescope, with the f/70          
      secondary mirror, the plate scale is approximately 0.31 arcsec          
      per pixel, for overall field of view of 18.2 arcsec by 19.4

      Filters

      The 28 Sgr occultation observations were made using a circular          
      variable filter (CVF). The CVF, with spectral resolution 0.0155,        
      was tuned to a central wavelegth of 3.9 microns in order to             
      avoid saturation of the detector by the bright star while
