Deep Impact Instrument Movies of 9P/Tempel 1

This volume contains collected movies of 9P/Tempel 1, created from observations made by instruments aboard the Deep Impact flyby and impactor spacecraft.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.

Data Files

The data are in a single data/ directory. The PDS labels contain a brief description of the movie contents. All movies are in MPEG-1 format:

• Dust Coma Evolution, from the High Resolution Instrument - Visual CCD (HRIV) images (2.6 MB) (PDS label)
• Impact Sequence as seen by the HRIV from the flyby spacecraft (619 KB) (PDS label)
• Impact Sequence as seen by the Medium Resolution Instrument (MRI) from the flyby spacecraft (798 KB) (PDS label)
• Limb Jets as observed by the MRI (674 KB) (PDS label)
• Impact Sequence, as seen by the Impactor Tracking Sensor (ITS) on the impactor craft (1.8 MB) (PDS label)

Index Files

The index/ directory contains an index into the files in the data/ directory. It also contains a checksum file.

• indxinfo.txt describes the directory contents.
• index.tab is a CSV table meeting the PDS indexing requirements. (PDS label)
• checksum.tab is a table containing MD5 checksums for each individual file included in the final archive. (PDS label)
