UH2.2m Reduced Images and Astrometry of 9P/Tempel 1 for 1997-2000 |
Status: Archived
Note: SBN has placed a post-review lien on this data set as of 06 Feb 2008 because the data providers are continuing to check and improve their calibration pipeline as they process 9P/Tempel 1 data from 2000 through 2005. An improved version of this reduced data set is expected in the future. Please use the data posted here with caution.
This data set includes calibrated images of the Deep Impact mission target comet 9P/Tempel 1 taken from November 1997 through July 1999 using the University of Hawaii, 2.24 meter telescope and a Tektronics 2048x2048 CCD. Observations were made using the facility BVRI broadband filters. This data set also includes tables of astrometric measurements of 9P/Tempel 1 for 1997-1999 as well as calibration frames and reduced standard star frames taken from 1997 and into 2000. This is an ongoing, cumulative data set; reduced images of 9P/Tempel 1 images taken from 2000 through 2005 at the UH2.2m telescope are expected to be added in the future.
These data were reviewed in April 2006 and archived in March 2007.
The entire data set is over 11 GB is size. The observational data have been broken into physical volumes (disa_1xxx) for downloading. Each volume includes catalog, index, documentation, and support files.
The following are provided as separate ZIP files, for convenience:
MD5 checksums for the above files

An overview of the volume contents is provided in the aareadme.txt file.
Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.
These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.
In addition to the small text files located throughout the volume to describe directory contents, some specific documents are provided to assist with understanding the data and processing involved. These files are located in the document/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the docinfo.txt file.
Several documents are provided with this data set:
All image data are reduced and FITS files with separate PDS labels. Astrometry files are ASCII tables with separate PDS labels. Data files are grouped into into yearly subdirectories within the data directory:
1997 Images and astrometry
1998 Images and astrometry
1999 Images and astrometry
2000 Images (calibration frames only)
This directory contains two indices into the data in the index/ directory.
