"document" Directory Contents
The document directory contains documentation files, where available, for the
data set in this volume. All document files will have an accompanying label
file to describe content and structure. Label files have the same name as the
main document file, with an extension of ".lbl".
docinfo.txt - The file you are reading.
ads.txt - The file sent to Abstract Data Service (ADS).
ads.lbl - The label for ads.txt.
lres15_spec_layout.jpg - "Spectral layout for LowRes15 (Prism) mode", Image
showing the positions of spectral orders on the array for the Low
Resolution prism (LowRes15) mode. This mode covers the interval from
0.8 - 2.5 microns with a maximum spectral resolution of R=250 when
using the narrowest (0.3 arcsec wide) slit.

LowRes15 (Prism) mode" described above.
lxd19_spec_layout.jpg - "Spectral layout for LXD1.9 mode", Image showing the
positions of spectral orders on the array for the Long Cross-Dispersed
(LXD1.9) mode. This mode covers the interval from 1.9 - 4.2 microns
with a maximum spectral resolution of R=2500 when using the narrowest
(0.3 arcsec wide) slit.

(LXD2.3) mode. This mode covers the interval from 2.3 - 5.5 microns
with a maximum spectral resolution of R=2500 when using the narrowest
(0.3 arcsec wide) slit.

log file for each night of the Comet 9P/Tempel 1 observing campaign,
providing start and end times of each observation, exposure times,
slit and grating used, etc. Those files containing "mseq" in the
name are spectral image sequences (stored as image cubes) that were
taken in "movie-mode" with SpeX. The last column of the log contains
a "Y" of "N", depending of whether or not guider images were being
stored at the time the spectra were recorded. These guider images are
contained in the companion dataset "IRTF Near-IR Imaging of Comet
9P-Tempel 1 V1.0", and could be useful in the flux calibration of the
spectra. Also included in these nightly logs are descriptions of the
sky conditions and a listing of optical depth (Tau at 225 GHz)
measurements as a function of time. These Tau measurements (provided
by the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory) are strongly correlated with
precipitable water vapor above Mauna Kea.

Cross-Dispersed (SXD) mode. This mode covers the interval from 0.8 -
2.5 microns with a maximum spectral resolution of R=2000 when using
the narrowest (0.3 arcsec wide) slit.
