IRAS Observations of 9P/Tempel 1 - Photometry

This volume contains photometry of the dust coma of the Deep Impact target, 9P/Tempel 1, during its 1983 apparition. The photometry was derived from images obtained by the Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS) and available from the PDS as the data set DI/IRAS-C-FPA-5-9P-IMAGES-V1.0.

These data were reviewed in October 2003 and archived in October 2005.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

• Description of the IRAS 9P/Tempel 1 Datasets, Including Photometry is provided in Word, PDF, and test format. Graphics for the text format are in separate JPEG files in the document/phot/ subdirectory. (PDS label)
• The onlabels.txt file provides definitions for keywords used in the PDS data labels.

Data Files

The data are divided into two subdirectories:

• data/ao contains tables of aperture photometry derived from the Additional Observations images.
• data/survey contains tables of aperture photometry derived from the IRAS Sky Survey Atlas observations.

Index Files

This directory contains an index into the data in the index/ directory.

• indxinfo.txt describes the directory contents.
