Status: Archived
This data set provides resampled (raw, averaged) temperature measurements from 27 sensors located in the HRII, HRIV, and MRI instruments, the HRI and MRI telescopes and on the HRI and MRI telescopes, instrument platform, and solar wings of the Deep Impact flyby spacecraft. The data begin on 15 January 2005, three days after launch, and continue through 9 July 2005, five days after the encounter with comet 9P/Tempel 1.
An overview of the volume contents is provided in the aareadme.txt file.
Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.
These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.
Note that the data set catalog file is preliminary and subject to frequent editing until a peer review has been scheduled for these data.
In addition to the small text files located throughout the volume to describe directory contents, some specific documents are provided to assist with understanding the data and processing involved. These files are located in the document/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the docinfo.txt file.
Documents specific to this data set are grouped into the following subdirectories:
The documentation for the Deep Impact mission, in particular documentation about the design and calibration of the instruments, is collected on a separate volume and may be useful when working with this data set. The root of this volume is here. The contents are described in the document.html file in the root of the documentation volume.
The index/ directory contains the required PDS index into the files in the data directory, as well as the checksum file.
