Deep Impact Flyby Spacecraft
HRII/HRIV/MRI Temperature Measurements

This data set provides resampled (raw, averaged) temperature measurements from 27 sensors located in the HRII, HRIV, and MRI instruments, the HRI and MRI telescopes and on the HRI and MRI telescopes, instrument platform, and solar wings of the Deep Impact flyby spacecraft. The data begin on 15 January 2005, three days after launch, and continue through 9 July 2005, five days after the encounter with comet 9P/Tempel 1.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.

Note that the data set catalog file is preliminary and subject to frequent editing until a peer review has been scheduled for these data.

The documentation for the Deep Impact mission, in particular documentation about the design and calibration of the instruments, is collected on a separate volume and may be useful when working with this data set. Data Files

• HRI Sensors Table (PDS label)
  This ASCII table contains resampled (raw, averaged) measurements from 14 different temperature sensors located at various points on the HRI telescope, the HRI IR spectrometer (HRII), the HRI visible CCD (HRIV) as well as one sensor in the panel underneath the instrument platform and four sensors on the two solar wings on the flyby spacecraft.
• MRI Sensors Table (PDS label)
  This ASCII table contains resampled (raw, averaged) measurements from nine different temperature sensors located at various points on the MRI telescope and the MRI visible CCD on the flyby spacecraft.

Index Files

The index/ directory contains the required PDS index into the files in the data directory, as well as the checksum file.

• indxinfo.txt describes the directory contents.
• index.tab is a CSV table meeting the PDS indexing requirements. (PDS label)
• checksum.tab is flat table of MD5 checksums for each file in the official archive volume except for itself and its PDS label.
