EPOXI SPICE Data

This data set contains the current SPICE data for the EPOXI mission. The entire data set including catalogs, data, documents, indices, and supporting files can be downloaded here:

An overview of the volume contents is provided in the aareadme.htm file. A flat text version of this file is contained in aareadme.txt, with the corresponding PDS label in aareadme.lbl.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.

Documentation Files

In addition to the small text files located throughout the volume to describe directory contents, some specific documents are provided to assist with understanding the data and processing involved.

These files are located in the document/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the docinfo.txt file. The text files below begin with small, attached PDS labels.

• lblinfo.txt provides a brief overview of label conventions.
• onlabels.txt provides basic information on PDS label structure, with a data label file example.

Data Files

The data files (kernels) are located under the data/ directory which is divided into subdirectories by the type of kernel. Each subdirectory contains an info.txt file that provides general information about the kernel type.

Extras

This directory contains value added elements that are outside the scope of the PDS archive requirements. Items included in this directory are currently limited to the meta-kernels.

• extrinfo.txt ddescribes the directory contents.

The meta-kernels are located in the mk/ subdirectory and provide complete lists of SPICE kernels, in the format required by the main SPICE data loader routine FURNSH, that need to be loaded into a SPICE-based application to compute geometry for a particular time period.

• mkinfo.txt describes the directory contents.
• epoxi_v01.tm is the meta-kernel file also known as the "furnsh" file that provides a list of the archived kernels included in this data set and suitable for loading into a SPICE-based application via the high level SPICE data loader routine named FURNSH.

Index Files

The index/ directory contains the required PDS index of the files in the data directory, as well as the checksum file. The indxinfo.txt describes the directory contents:

• index.tab is a CSV table that identifies the location of each data file in this data set (PDS label).
• checksum.tab is a flat table of MD5 checksums for each file in this data set except for itself and its PDS label.

Software Files

The software directory on this volume contains a single text file, softinfo.txt, which provides contact information for those wishing to investigate or obtain the NAIF Toolkit.
