Status: Archived

This data set contain digital elevation maps of the unit surface normal vector for that part of the 19P/Borrelly 1 nucleus imaged by the Miniature Integrated Camera and Spectrometer (MICAS) aboard Deep Space 1. Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily an instrument specialist.

These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.

Data Files

The main data files are located in the data/ subdirectory and consists of ASCII tables of elevation computed by each institution:

In addition, the data/images/ subdirectory contains FITS versions of the images used by the two groups to create their maps; and the data/matrices/ subdirectory contains ASCII versions each of the (x,y,z) and (Nx,Ny,Nz) components from the USGS file, above, with fill values added to create regular, rectangular arrays more convenient for analysis with some software.

Documentation Files

In addition to the small text files located throughout the volume to describe directory contents, some specific documents are provided to assist with understanding the data and processing involved. These files are located in the document/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the docinfo.txt file.

Three documents are presented: the MICAS technology validation report, and example surface plots of the data from various points of view.

Index Files

This directory contains an index into the data files included on this volume (in the data/ directory).
