BOR_MEECH: Images and Photometry of 19P/Borrelly 1 by Karen Meech

This volume contains CCD images of 19P/Borrelly 1 taken during the 1987 and 2001 apparitions, mainly at Mauna Kea. Photometry has been provided for images from 3 of the 20 total nights of observations. 67 images are presented in total: 25 were taken over 1987-08-21 to 1988-05-19; 42 were taken over 2000-05-26 to 2002-02-03. The images are in various states of reduction. The principlan documentation available was the information encoded into the FITS header keywords. SBN personnel incorporated the available information into the PDS labels and descriptions as far as possible.

The data are available as is for those interested. The whole data set is about 580Mb. The data have been divided into chunks to facilitate downloading.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

Documentation Files

In addition to the small text files located throughout the volume to describe directory contents, some specific documents may be provided to assist with understanding the data and processing involved.

These files are located in the document/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the docinfo.txt file.

Several keywords were proposed for use with the data set and possibly others. Although definition were drafted and the new keywords were used in creating the labels, the data were determined to be unsuitable for archiving before the definitions were formally proposed. Thus, the draft keyword submission files (text files are included as documentation with these data.

Data Files

There are 67 individual FITS images in this data set, sorted by date of observation, and one ASCII table of photometry derived from three of those nights (1987-08-21, 1987-11-25 and 2000-05-28). The images are in FITS format and are accompanied by detached PDS labels. Note that image size varies greatly over the observations.
