McDonald Observatory - Spectroscopy of 9P/Tempel 1(A. Cochran) |
Status: In Lien Resolution
This data set contains integrated band fluxes and column densities derived from low-spectral resolution observations of comet 9P/Tempel 1. The data were acquired from 1989, 1994 and 2005 using the 2.7 meter Harlan J. Smith telescope of McDonald Observatory. The molecules which may have been observed are OH, NH, CN, C3, CH, and C2 (two band complexes - the delta v=0 and 1). This comet was the target of NASA's Deep Impact mission and these observations allowed for characterization of Tempel 1 prior to the impact.
Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.
These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.
The flux and column density data are presented in the data/ subdirectory. Each molecular species has its own data subdirectory and each observation (identified by date and position angle) has its own ASCII table and separate PDS label.
Additional descriptions of the observations, data processing and this archive volume are presented as ASCII text files with separate PDS labels in the document/ subdirectory.
This index/ subdirectory contains an index for the data on this volume.
