Stardust Calibrated Images of 81P/Wild 2

This volume contains calibrated images and calibration data obtained by the Navigation Camera (NAVCAM) on board the Stardust spacecraft during the flyby of comet 81P/Wild 2. 206 calibrated images cover a 5-day period from 2003-12-29 to 2004-01-02.

The data set is available in compressed format for downloading: It has been split into two files, the navigation data and the encounter data, along with a third file that contains the catalogs and document information.

An overview of the volume contents is provided in the aareadme.txt file.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.

Documentation Files

In addition to the small text files located throughout the volume to describe directory contents, some specific documents are provided to assist with understanding the data and processing involved.

Data Files

The data are divided into two subdirectories, each containing image files in FITS format with detached PDS labels. These files are located in the data/ subdirectory.
