Note: I don't have write permission on the catalog files, so all changes in that directory were done by creating a copy of the file and appending ".new" to the name. These should replace the older version. SDU_GEOM -------- o Dick S. has a list of technical details. -- see below o Need INTERSTELLAR_PARTICLES catalog file. - added o Add INTERSTELLAR_PARTICLES as data set target. - added Dick Simpson's comments: AAREADME.TXT 1. [DATA]/*.LBL - These are labels for the files (not documents) in the directory. -fixed VOLDESC.CAT 1. What is SDSRC_0001 and what is its relationship to this volume? ???? 2. The values for INSTITUTION_NAME and FACILITY_NAME are reversed. - Fixed DOCUMENT Directory: 1. Documents must be included in human-readable text format; PDF, by itself, does not qualify. M_PLAN_SUPA.PDF, M_PLAN_SUPB.PDF, and MISSION_PLAN.PDF must be converted to *.TXT files or an equivalent. -????? how do we deal with this? INDEX Directory: 1. The values for VOLUME ID (column 1) are SDHK_0002; this is different from the VOLUME_ID (SDSRC_0002) in VOLDESC.CAT. -Fixed CATALOG Directory: 1. INDEX.TAB lists INTERSTELLAR_PARTICLES as the target for the ISP1 and ISP2 tables (the data product labels also list this target). There is no DATA_SET_TARGET object definition for this target in DATASET.CAT, there is no MISSION_TARGET object definition in STARDUST.CAT, and there is no INSTERSTELLAR_PARTICLES.CAT file in the CATALOG directory. - INTERSTELLAR_PARTICLES added as a target in the stardust.cat file, and the target file has been added to the catalog directory, with mentions in the aareadme.txt and catinfo.txt files 2. PERSON.CAT is missing (and not mentioned in CATINFO.TXT or VOLDESC.CAT). -added to the directory with the relevant mentions 3. Would it be possible in one of the *.CAT files to explain the "interstellar stream" and what assumptions are made about its velocity with respect to the ecliptic? One of the objectives was to minimize SDU velocity with respect to the stream, and there are a lot of numbers in the data tables quantifying the relative velocities; but I have no image of what this stream is or its motion. - There is already a discussion of the ISP stream in the dataset.cat file. It describes the velocity and direction of the stream relative to the solar suystem, as well as how it is modified by the effects of the sun. If this is not sufficient, then I'm not sure what else I can add. DATA Directory: 1. Typo in TARGET_NAME line (double double quote mark) -Fixed 2. Some of the angle calculations (e.g., clock angle for spacecraft velocity with respect to Wild 2) are slightly different (at the 0.01 deg level) in the data file compared with calculation directly from parent columns. This may follow from the fact that the velocity components are small and only three decimal places are given. - Likely to be roundoff errors. Difference is not significant for the accuracy of the data set. Nothing done.
