Stardust Collector Plate Geometry Data |
Status: In Peer Review
This volume contains the data describing the geometry and orientations of the spacecraft and the dust collector plate during the two interstellar dust collecting phases and the encounter with comet Wild 2. The data were downloaded from the NAIF website on 5 June 2006.
The original tar files can be downloaded here.
An overview of the volume contents is provided in the aareadme.txt file.
Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.
These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.
Note that the catalog files are preliminary and subject to frequent editing until a peer review has been scheduled for these data.
In addition to the small text files located throughout the volume to describe directory contents, some specific documents are provided to assist with understanding the data and processing involved. These files are located in the document/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the docinfo.txt file.
Additional explanatory material about the Stardust mission and the SRC have been provided in several separate documents:
There are three data files available, one covering each of the two Interstellar particle collection periods and one for the Wild 2 encounter.
The index/ directory contains the required PDS index into the files in the data/ directory.
