***** File AAREADME.TXT

This data set collection contains observations of Jupiter during the Comet
Shoemaker-Levy 9 impact events by the Hubble Space Telescope in July 1994.
These data consist of images by the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2).

The data are included in FITS format. There are a number of software
packages that exist which will read FITS files, two of which are IRAF
and IDL. Information about these two packages can be found at
http://iraf.noao.edu and http://www.rsinc.com respectively.

In the DOCUMENT directory are explanatory text files as well as digitized
versions of the manuals that are in Postscript form with figures.
All document files and detached labels contain an 80-byte fixed length
record, with a carriage return (ASCII 13) and line feed (ASCII 10) as the
79th and 80th byte respectively. All the tabular files in the INDEX
directory are formatted according to PDS standards. It should be
noted that the index tables are formatted so that they may be read directly
into many database management systems. All fields are separated by commas,
and character fields are enclosed in double quotes (").

The documents in the DOCUMENT directory and sections reproduced in the
CATALOG directory include material created with support to Space Telescope
Science Institute, operated by the Association of Universities for Research
in Astronomy, Inc., from NASA contract NAS5-26555, and is reproduced here
