Subject: HRI/MRI IP TV4 Flash report Date: Sat, 22 Feb 2003 19:38:51 -0500 From: Dennis Wellnitz Hi all, Today (Saturday, February 22) we finished preparations for thermal vac and verified that everything was ready, and then pulled vacuum at 4:05 pm MST. We will start heating for bake-out of the telescope structures at 45 C and instrument electronics survival tests at 70 C as soon as the vacuum has reached 10^-5 torr. We expect that bake-out will officially start late today, so it should be completed late on Wednesday, February 26. Thermal cycling and functional testing of the instrument electronics will continue throughout the bake-out. Alignment of the test station is planned for Monday and Tuesday. As soon as the test station is aligned, presumably on Tuesday, we plan to begin checking warm images using first the HRI and then the MRI. As soon as bake-out is completed and warm tests have been completed, we plan to begin cooling the system, probably starting late on Wednesday (February 26) or on Thursday (February 27). We plan to be taking calibration data as the system cools, and to start MRI cold tests after about two days of cooling and HRI cold tests after about three days of cooling. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. Also please let me know if you would prefer not to be included on this distribution list, or if there is someone else who should be included on the Flash report distribution list. Dennis
