Listed below are the liens/RIDs that were found at the PDS/PSA February 2016 review of the Prelanding thru Escort 1 phases of the Rosetta mission. Even though this particular data set may have not participated in the review, it uses the same pipeline and so the liens likely apply here as well. Please take note that some issues may be resolved, while others are not. If any other issues are discovered please let the PDS-SBN know. It is expected that a fully lien resolved version will be produced during post mission ops and archived with an incremented data set version number. 1)Reference ID (RID): RO_AR-RID_NAVCAM_001 Dataset: "Insert the dataset ID for which you report a RID " Location: no geometry index available Title: geometry index Description: It would be nice to have a geometry index to search the data. At the moment it is very difficult to fne images of a specific area. Proposed solution by reviewer: cretea geomery index Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: Agree. It will be added. 2)Reference ID (RID): RO_AR-RID_NAVCAM_002 Dataset: "RO-C-NAVCAM-2-ESC3-MTP018-V1.0 " Location: geometric calibration not given in I-kernel Title: geometric calibration Description: The informtion for geomteric calibration which is provided in the EAICD should also be given in the SPICE instrument kernel. Proposed solution by reviewer: update I-kernel Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: Agree. It will be included in the kernel file 3)Reference ID (RID): RO_AR-RID_NAVCAM_003 Dataset: "RO-C-NAVCAM-2-ESC3-MTP018-V1.0 " Location: image label Title: display_direction Description: Why is lie_display_direction=UP used ? All other images in the archives use down and some older PDS software can not handle this value ! Proposed solution by reviewer: change display_direction Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: To be decided. It has been discussed that there is not a default or preferred orientation which also changes across disciplines. It is not critiacal to implement the change. The telemetry comes in this order so it was prefered to keep it close to the original format. 4)Reference ID (RID): RO-AR-RID-NAVCAM-101-DB Dataset: all Location: others Title: Quantitative interpretation Description: No documentation is provided that allows for a quantitative assessment of the data. Listed references in the PSA document (user manual, design documents) are not available. Even basic information such as QE and transmission curves are not provided. Proposed solution by reviewer: provide documentation and/or design specs Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: Accepted. The current dataset with the information provided does not allow for a quantitative radiometric assessment. However, there are other quantitative studies (morphology, shape model) which can nevertheless be carried out.The listed reference documents are by the manufacturer of the instrument and not included in the dataset due to proprietary issues. The opinion of the data producer is that these documents should be made available. However, the legal aspects must be clarified first. While the available documents do include important pieces of information, basic information such as transmission curves are not readily available. Work on the radiometric calibration is in progress. For example the spectral sensitivity is modelled using data sheets for the CCD detector and the glass type. Other pieces of information are extracted from configuration files of the on-board software. Level 3 datasets are foreseen to be released during the course of this year. A comprehensive documentation of the radiometric calibration procedure will be provided. 5)Reference ID (RID): RO-AR-RID-NAVCAM-102-DB Dataset: all Location: headers and PSA Title: Reverse calibration and pipeline Description: It is not specified what processing is done on the data. Is any bias subtracted? What is the bias? Are bad pixels removed? Proposed solution by reviewer: provide documentation, append headers Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: No changes needed. The dataset is of Level 2, i.e. no processing is done by definition. See section 3.2.1 of the EAICD, in particular the last sentence. Detailed information on the bias values will be given in the documentation of the Level 3 data. 6)Reference ID (RID): RO-AR-RID-NAVCAM-103-DB Dataset: all Location: others Title: Gain Description: The numeric value of the gain is not given. This value is needed to assess the signal to noise. Proposed solution by reviewer: append headers Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: Accepted. The PDS labels and FITS headers include information on whether the image was acquired with LOW or HIGH gain. The numerical values (17 electrons per DN for LOW gain, 10 electrons per DN for HIGH gain) will be added in the EAICD. Detailed information on radiometric calibration will be included in the documentation of Level 3 data. (When it is available the document can then also be added to the Level 2 datasets.) 7)Reference ID (RID): RO-AR-RID-NAVCAM-104-DB Dataset: all Location: others Title: Geometrical correction Description: The data provided has been geometrically corrected. The documentation does not explain what is done and this is therefore an irreversible calibration. The expected geometrical accuracy is not listed; inspection suggests it is no better than ~1 arscec. Proposed solution by reviewer: Provide lower level data and documentation Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: No changes needed. The dataset is of Level 2. There has been no geometric calibration applied. See the statement in section 3.2.2 of the EAICD. Section 4.2.4 gives the required information for geometric correction to be applied by the user depending on the specific objective. 8)Reference ID (RID): RO-AR-RID-NAVCAM-105-DB Dataset: PSA document Location: PSA p4 Title: Saturation specs Description: The saturation is given as a magnitude; it would be more helpful when given in units of counts (as it is in the headers) Proposed solution by reviewer: Update PSA Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: Accepted. The saturation value of 4095 DN correponding to 12bits dynamic range will be added to the table on page 4. 9)Reference ID (RID): RO-AR-RID-NAVCAM-106-DB Dataset: PSA document Location: PSA Sec 4.3 Title: Data Quality flag Description: data_valid key word is often not-ok. It is unclear to me what this means Proposed solution by reviewer: Update PSA Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: No changes needed. This is explained in the second paragraph of Section 4.3 of the EAICD. 10)Reference ID (RID): RO-AR-RID-NAVCAM-107-DB Dataset: all Location: headers and PSA Title: Pointing Description: RA & DEC are given in header but it is not specified where the boresight is. Proposed solution by reviewer: - Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: Accepted. The boresight information is available in the SPICE frame kernel, which is referenced in the label files. We can add this information also in the EAICD. 11)Reference ID (RID): RO-AR-RID-NAVCAM-108-DB Dataset: RO-C-NAVCAM-2-ESC1-MTP010-V1.0' Location: others Title: Coherent noise? Description: What is the apparent vertical coherent noise? What is its typical value? Proposed solution by reviewer: - Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: Accepted. This is coherent read-out noise on a rather low level (2-3 DN). In the Level 3 products a correction will be made as part of the bias subtraction. This (and other artefacts) will be discussed in the documentation of the calibration procedure. 12)Reference ID (RID): RO-AR-RID-NAVCAM-109-DB Dataset: all Location: others Title: Duplicity Description: FITS and IMG are identical Proposed solution by reviewer: include only IMG in PDS Review board discussion outcome and Instrument team response: Unless there is a strong opinion by PSA/PDS we would like to keep the two versions as they are for convenience. It is mentioned in section of the EAICD that the data are available in IMG and FITS versions.
