Deep Impact 9P/Tempel Encounter - Reduced HRII Spectral Images

This volume contains Reduced images (reversible and in units of radiance) of comet 9P/Tempel 1 acquired by the Deep Impact High Resolution Instrument Infrared Spectrometer (HRII) during the encounter phase of the mission.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

These files are located in the catalog/ subdirectory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.

Calibration Files

This directory, calib/, contains the files used to calibrate the raw HRII data of comet 9P/Tempel 1. The calibration files are grouped into the following subdirectories and are briefly describe in the calinfo.txt file.

abscalir - Lookup tables of IR absolute calibration constants
adclut - Dummy table to correct for ADC uneven bit weighting (input values equal output values; required by the calibration pipeline)
badpix - Bad pixel maps for each instrument mode
bias - Dummy bias frames (all zeros) for each instrument mode (required by the calibration pipeline)
dark - Dark frames for specific exposure IDs
decomprs - Lossy lookup tables, numbered from 0 to 3, used to decompress raw data files that were compressed onboard the spacecraft
drkmodel - Master dark frames for each instrument mode
flat - Dummy flat fields (all ones) for each instrument mode (required by the calibration pipeline)
gain - Dummy gain correction maps (all ones) for each instrument mode (required by the calibration pipeline)
lindn - Maps providing the linearization coefficients for each instrument mode
psf - Dummy point-spread function files for each instrument mode (required by the calibration pipeline)
specmap - Temperature-dependent, spectral maps for each instrument mode
sunspec - Tables providing the solar spectral irradiance at 1 AU for the gven wavelengths
xtalk - Dummy electronic cross-talk gain tables (all zeros) for each instrument mode (required by the calibration pipeline)

Data Files

The data are divided by date of observation, with subdirectories named by sequential day number under the data/radrev/2005/ subdirectory. These reversible, calibrated data (RADREV) have units of radiance W/[m**2 um sr].

Browse Facility

The browse directory is a web site that provides an easy method for viewing JPEG versions of data products in the data/ directory. An HTML main page links to daily HTML files which display thumbnails and full-frame JPEGs for each data product. The root of this directory is here.

browinfo.txt describes the directory contents.
