EPOXI: Instrument Temperature Measurements from Telemetry

Status: Archived

This data set contains raw temperature measurements from telemetry for the EPOXI mission from 27 sensors located in the HRII, HRIV, and MRI instruments and on the HRI and MRI telescopes, instrument platform, and solar wings of the Deep Impact flyby spacecraft. The data for this version were collected from 17 December 2007 through 31 December 2008, during the first cruise and EPOCh phases of the mission as well as the early part of the second cruise phase. Future versions of this data set will include thermal data from the remaining part of the second cruise phase and the 103P/Hartley 2 encounter phase (DIXI) of the mission.

The entire data set including catalogs, documents, indices, and supporting files can be downloaded here:

A file of MD5 checksums for the download files is available here.

In case you're wondering...

An overview of the volume contents is provided in the aareadme.txt file.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

These files are located in the catalog/ directory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.

Documentation Files

The current documentation for the EPOXI and Deep Impact missions has been collected into a separate volume. The root of this volume is here. The contents are described in the aareadme file in the root of the documentation volume. However some specific documents are duplicated in this data set to assist with understanding the data and processing involved. These files are located in the document/ directory. The directory contents are described by the docinfo.txt file. Please note these documents may be older versions of those found in the EPOXI and Deep Impact documentation set.

Data Files

The data/ directory contains one fixed-width ASCII table of raw thermal telemetry measurements for each sensor. Each table is described by a detached PDS data label (*.lbl). The AMMOS sensor number is included in each file name and can be used to the lookup sensor description in the Data Set description file. The data label also provides this information.

Index Files

The index/ directory contains the required PDS index of the files in the data directory, as well as the checksum file. The indxinfo.txt describes the directory contents:
