New Horizons: Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) Instrument Post-Launch Checkout Calibrated Data

This dataset contains Calibrated data from launch up to and including the post-launch checkout for the New Horizons Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) instrument during the post-launch mission phase. It covers the time period from 19 Jan 2006 to 1 Jan 2007.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

Documentation Files

In addition to the small text files located throughout the volume to describe directory contents, some specific documents are provided to assist with understanding the data and processing involved. Calibration Files

The calib/ directory contains the files used to reduce and calibrate the raw data.

• dead_ground_4x4_synthetic.fit is a FITS images showing the dead pixels for the 4x4 binning mode (PDS label).
• dsmear_ematrix_1024.fit is a desmearing matrix for the 1x1 binning mode (PDS label).
• dsmear_ematrix_256.fit is a desmearing matrix for the 4x4 binning mode (PDS label).
• Flat field images

Data Files

The data/ are FITS files with multiple extensions including images and a binary housekeeping table. Each data file has a detached PDS label (*.lbl). Data are grouped into subdirectories according to Mission Elapsed Time (for conversion to UTC, see document nh_met2utc.tab, PDS label).

Index Files

The index/ directory contains the required PDS index of the files in the data directory.

• indxinfo.txt describes the directory contents.
• index.tab is a CSV table that identifies the location of each data file in this data set (PDS label).
• checksum.tab is checksum file that can be used to check for errors during download (PDS label).
