Rosetta: Comet 9P/Tempel 1 & Cruise 2
Calibrated Data from the Microwave Instrument for Rosetta Orbiter (MIRO)

This data set contains spectroscopic and continuum data taken by MIRO during the second cruise phase of the mission. The data consist primarily of observations of comet 9P/Tempel 1 before, during and after the planned collision of the Deep Impact mission impactor spacecraft with that comet in July 2005. These data have been calibrated to antenna temperatures and are presented as a series of binary table files. These data were collected from 28 June 2005 to 14 July 2005.

Catalog Files

Catalog files contain the overview information and parameters used in loading the PDS central catalog, specifically, or for developing other interfaces to the data outside of PDS. The information they contain, particularly in their descriptive text fields, should be clear, complete, and understandable to a research user who is not necessarily a mission or instrument specialist.

These files are located in the catalog/ directory. The directory contents are described by the catinfo.txt file.

Documentation Files

In addition to the small text files located throughout the volume to describe directory contents, some specific documents are provided to assist with understanding the data and processing involved. These files are located in the document/ directory. The directory contents are described by the docinfo.txt file.

Data Files

The data/ directory contains calibrated spectroscopic and continuum data in the form of binary table files (*.dat). Each data file has a detached PDS label (*.lbl). The data are grouped into these subdirectories:

The label/ directory contains ASCII format files which define the structures of the different types of binary tables in the data/ subdirectories. The directory contents are described by the labinfo.txt file.

The format of the data tables also is described in the MIRO Archive Interface Control Document.

Index Files

The index/ directory contains the required PDS index into the files in the data directory, as well as the checksum file.
